LOCATIONS
Entrance
“I had little trouble ganing access to the fort, as thee entrance lacked any door”
This is the entrance to the fortress. It is little more than a hole in the side of a cliff. It is wide enough to fit two dwarves comfortable side by side.
Warehouse
“In here I found the stores of the dwarves. The room was filled with barrels, piles of stone, food, and the fruits of their labor”
The warehouse is a featureless room filled mostly with barrels and crates fillwed with the odds and ends of the fortress. See the Stocks and Workshops post for details on what can be found in the warehouse.
Workshops
“In here I watched as the industrious inhabitant of the fortress toiled away on countless artifacts of stone and leather.”
The Workshops room contains all of the workshops in the fortress, each only separated by the narrow lanes between the counters and benches that populate this room. For more information on the Workshops, see the Stocks and Workshops post.
Dining Hall
“This long room was filled with tables at which the dwarves partook in merriment and feasts.”
The Dining hall contains three large tables that stretch the length of 75 percent of the room. The tables are dwarf sized, as are the rows of stone stools on each side. At one end, in the middle of the clearing, stands a small platform, about a foot high and covered with blue glowing runes. Anyone who stands and speaks on this platform will have all of their words broadcast to the anyone within the fortress’s rooms or hallways.
The Mines
“Despite the sounds of joyful singing, I dared not venture into the mines.”
The Mines are a maze of crisscrossing tunnels that the dwarves have created in their neverending quest to dig deeper and extract the riches from the earth. They have never been mapped, and the dwarves, who never seem to get lost, seem unable to provide good directions within. There are a few well lit shafts, primarily the largest, straightest, and most active, but there are myriad side tunnels and failed excavations that branch off, they are poorly lit and the dangers that caused their abandon may be ill remembered. See the Mining Post for more information.
Outside
“The forsts outside is very dense and very easy to lose one’s way in.”
There is very little outside of the fortress beyond a muddy trail, a large clearing just outside the entrance, and the dense forest beyond.
Please post any questions in the FAQ post.
